My Black Dog is an online mental health support charity that focuses on putting you in touch with others who have lived through struggling with mental health, so you can "talk to someone who gets it". This is our motto, and it is the motto My Black Dog was founded on because we completely understand what you are battling. We are not doctors, therapists, psychiatrists or counsellors, we are just ordinary people who understand and want to help; people who have all experienced issues with their mental health. My Black Dog fully understands that opening up the dialogue about your mental health is one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do, and that coping with mental health struggles alone is a constant, draining battle. The volunteers at My Black Dog have been through the whole process and know it well. This is why our free online mental health chat service has been designed from the ground up to support you through with absolutely ZERO judgement, every day of the week. We know, the thought of talking to friends, family or professionals about your mental health can seem overwhelming- you might not think it serious enough or necessary, but taking care of your mental health is the most important thing you can do for yourself! Here at My Black Dog, we believe that just talking to someone, even going to talk to someone online about mental health can be one of the most important steps you'll take. Reaching out can be difficult, but to reiterate, the volunteers at My Black Dog have been through the whole process. We have gone beyond crisis points, taken trips to the doctor, had sessions with counsellors, had conversations with family and friends, taken medication, and dealt with breakdowns.
